Serum Copper and Serum Ceruloplasmin Levels in Acute Myocarial Infarction

چکیده
Copper, a strong prooxidant, may play a role in atherogenesis. Serum Cu and caeruloplasmin levels have been suggested to be independent risk factors for coronary heart disease operating through oxidative modification of low density lipoprotein. Fifty cases of Acute Myocardial Iinfarction and fifty age and sex-matched controls were recruited. Copper and ceruloplasmin levels were estimated in controls and in cases at the time of diagnosis and weekly In cases copper and ceruloplasmin levels were statistically significantly elevated (p <0.0001) compared to controls. And Serum copper and ceruloplasmin levels were maximum on 7 day of infarction, gradually declining from 7 to 28 day of infarction to normal ranges (P value is 0.0001). This suggests that serum copper and ceruloplasmin levels decreased in cases with institution of treatment.

Relationship between serum copper & ceruloplasmin level and dependence on sample
The correlation between the serum level of copper and ceruloplasmin was determined among sarcheshmeh copper workers and compared with Kerman blood bank diners samples. Serum copper was analyzed by atomic absorption spectrophotometry and ceruloplasmin was determined by a caloric enzymatic assay. The concentration of serum copper in the test group was 93+_20.4 mg/ DL which was significantly lower...
متن کاملSerum Zinc & Copper in Myocardial Infarction
SUMMARY The purpose of this study is to compare the level of zinc, copper and the ratio of zinc to copper in serum of patients who are suffering from acute myocardial infarction with healthy men. In 10 ml blood samples from 45 men on the second day of myocardial infarction and 51 healthy men volunteers matched for age, serum zinc, copper, cholesterol and triglycerides were measured. Zinc and c...
متن کاملSTUDY OF THE EFFECT OF RESIDUAL CHLORINE ON SERUM IRON AND RELATED PARAMETERS
The major purpose of the present investigation was to study the effects of different concentrations of residual chlorine on serum iron related parameters in rats. Feeding male rats with water containing 80 ppm of residual chlorine daily for 5 days reduced serum levels of ceruloplasmin, copper, iron and hemoglobin by approximately 27%,23%,6% and 4%, respectively. Higher reductions in serum ...
متن کاملScreening for Wilson's disease in patients with liver diseases by serum ceruloplasmin.
BACKGROUND/AIMS A low serum ceruloplasmin level is considered a diagnostic test for Wilson's disease. To examine whether it is useful to detect presymptomatic patients with Wilson's disease, serum ceruloplasmin was determined by radial immunodiffusion (normal: 20-60 mg/dl) in all patients (n = 2867) admitted for evaluation of a liver disease in 1993 and 1994. METHODS Patients with levels lowe...
متن کاملInfluence of age and sex on serum copper and ceruloplasmin levels.
Serum copper and ceruloplasmin concentrations were determined in 180 normal male subjects and 44 female subjects, age 20 to 89 years. A small but significant increase (p < .025) in serum copper concentrations was observed with age in the male population; none was observed in the females. Serum ceruloplasmin concentrations failed to change with age in either group. In contrast with most previous...
